Local climate Charente-Maritime (17)

         

The Charente-Maritime departement of France is renowned for sunshine. It has officially the second highest number of hours of sun in mainland France. This, coupled with the great scenery and coastline, helps to boost the tourist industry that is important to the area. The summer visitor might leave with the impression that the Charente-Maritime is always warm and sunny. In truth winters though relatively short can be cold, though it is very rare for the thermometer to be below zero during the daytime. All gardeners keep a keen eye on weather and forecasts, and we have been keeping records of the climate in our own garden for a few years:
